BIOGRAPHY
Sukhi Gidar is co-founder and chief executive officer of Gold Care Homes, a family-owned group that runs more than 40 care homes in England. He co-founded it in 1999 with his brother Ravi and grew it from a single home in Hertfordshire. The group's website describes him as the person who leads all property elements of the business. He is also listed there as a board member of the National Care Association.
Gidar trained as a pharmacist and ran pharmacies before he moved into care. When the developer of a care home project in the Midlands ran into funding trouble, he and his brother invested in it and ran the home themselves for three years. He says that experience taught him how regulation, staffing and operations work, and that it persuaded him to commit to the sector, where he has now spent more than 30 years. His LinkedIn profile lists the University of Sunderland from 1987 to 1990.
In December 2025 OakNorth lent him £18.2m to buy the 382-room Delta Hotels by Marriott Heathrow Windsor, which he described as a step into hospitality. In interviews with Christie & Co and Care Home Magazine he said he plans to add gym and spa facilities and padel courts at the hotel, and to look for further care home acquisitions. He says hotels have shaped how Gold Care approaches dining, with more attention to presentation, choice and flexible meal times. In March 2026 Gold Care Homes was named one of carehome.co.uk's Top 20 large care home groups, and Gidar said the award reflected the work of the teams in the homes.
