Building a consumer health brand?
We run PR for companies in this market: from category launches and funding announcements to regulatory communications and the press cycle that comes with selling directly to consumers, employers or insurers.
Fitness & recovery wearable
Whoop makes a screenless wristband and subscription platform that tracks strain, recovery and sleep for athletes and health-conscious consumers.
The read
Whoop's core product is a subscription-only wrist (or clip-on) sensor with no screen, feeding a companion app that scores daily strain, recovery and sleep to guide training load. In 2025-2026 it pushed further into regulated territory: it secured FDA clearance for an ECG/AFib feature and weathered an FDA warning letter over blood-pressure estimation, which the agency ultimately closed out under new wellness-device guidance.
The company raised $575m in a March 2026 Series G that nearly tripled its valuation to $10.1bn, with founder Will Ahmed publicly flagging an IPO as the likely next step.
The Bridgehead view
Whoop is the clearest test case for how far a "wellness" subscription wearable can push into medical-grade claims before regulators intervene, and its FDA outcome has effectively set the playbook other consumer health-tech vendors are now following.
