BIOGRAPHY
Andrew Knight is chief executive of Care UK, which in December 2025 became the second largest provider of care for older people in the country after taking over the management of the Aria Care and Danforth Care Homes estates. Care UK now operates more than 250 homes across England, Scotland and Wales.
He joined Care UK in February 2014 as managing director of residential care services and has been chief executive since 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile. Care UK was his first role in social care. He was managing director of Weight Watchers UK from 2010 to 2013, and before that a managing director and plc board director at Punch Taverns, commercial director at Spirit Group, and a marketing and general management executive at Allied Domecq. From 2009 to 2012 he was a non-executive director of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, which was working to recover after the Francis Inquiry.
At Care UK he has led a long new-build programme. The company says it has opened 54 new homes, with a further 12 sites in planning or construction. In 2021 Care UK took on the management of 26 former Sunrise Senior Living and Gracewell Healthcare homes. In October 2024 Bridgepoint sold Care UK, which it had owned since 2010; the homes are now run by an operating company acquired by the company's management. Knight said Bridgepoint had been an incredibly supportive investor for almost 14 years.
Care Home Professional put him on its 2021 Power List, and Care Talk named him to its Social Care Top 30 for 2026. He holds a BA in Business Studies from Teesside University.
