Managing Director, Evermore Care Homes
Syd Coombes is founder and Managing Director of Evermore Care Homes in Lancashire and Managing Director of the specialist provider Active Pathways.
BIOGRAPHY
Syd Coombes is the founder and Managing Director of Evermore Care Homes, which runs two care homes in Lancashire: Ashton Manor in Lancaster and Astley View in Chorley. He is also Managing Director of Active Pathways, a Chorley-based provider of mental health rehabilitation, learning disability and autism services. Evermore uses the title Managing Director for him rather than Chief Executive.
He has led Active Pathways since June 2004, according to his LinkedIn profile, and Companies House shows him as a director of Active Pathways Limited from September 2003. The company supports people with complex health and social care needs through in-patient services, residential homes and supported living, and works with integrated care boards, local authorities and Transforming Care Partnerships. Evermore followed in 2018 and 2019: he became a director of Evermore Care Holdings Limited and Evermore Care Limited in October 2018 and has been Managing Director of the care homes business since January 2019. Its stated focus is developing and operating care homes for older people in the private-pay market in the North of England.
LaingBuisson's Care Markets magazine reported in March 2026 that he began his career in care at 16 before moving into banking and management consulting. His LinkedIn profile lists account director at Sitel from 1996 to 1999, account manager at Hyder Consulting from 2000 to 2001 and consultant at Steria Group from 2001 to 2004, and a BA in Business and Finance from Kingston University.
Evermore Care Homes was named Care Home Provider of the Year at the Leaders in Care Awards on 7 October 2025. It was shortlisted in the Excellence in Small Residential Care category of the 2024 LaingBuisson Awards. In November 2025 Coombes spoke at the Care Management Show on building a person-centred and commercially successful culture, and in December 2025 LaingBuisson published his article on how design shapes safety, recovery and independence in care settings.
