BIOGRAPHY
Chris Poole is chief executive officer of Greensleeves Care, the not-for-profit care home charity run by Greensleeves Homes Trust. He took up the post on 4 August 2025. He also chairs the board of Active Prospects UK, a supported living organisation, a role he has held since September 2022.
Greensleeves announced his appointment on 27 May 2025 after what its board described as a comprehensive search and competitive interview process. Board chair Andrew Richmond said the board wanted someone with the talent and experience to maintain the quality of care and keep Greensleeves growing. Poole said he wanted to build on the foundations already in place.
From 2017 until he joined Greensleeves, Poole was director of business development for care at Sanctuary Group. Active Prospects describes that role as covering sales, marketing, contracts, business transformation, strategy, development and the commissioning of new care homes. Before Sanctuary he was regional director of operations at The Orders of St John Care Trust (2015 to 2017), interim regional operations director at Caring Homes Group (2015), and operations director at Friends of the Elderly (2013 to 2015). Friends of the Elderly announced the last appointment in April 2013. Civil Society reported that he would oversee the transformation of its care homes into community hubs.
His earlier career was outside care homes. He was chief executive of the Karis Neighbour Scheme, a Birmingham neighbourhood charity, and head of strategy, innovation and organisational development at World Vision. Before that he worked for the engineering consultancy Atkins, where he started as an engineering manager in 2002 and later led innovation and business improvement.
