MID-SIZE GROUP/9 HOMES
Kay Cox
Chief Executive Officer, Stow Healthcare Group (part of CGEN Care Group)
Kay Cox is chief executive of Stow Healthcare Group, a nine-home care provider owned by CGEN, and was previously CEO of Signature Senior Lifestyle.
BIOGRAPHY
Kay Cox is chief executive of Stow Healthcare Group, which runs nine care homes in the east of England and is owned by CGEN Care Group, a US-based care operator. She took the role in 2025, when CGEN bought the group from its founders, Roger Catchpole and Ruth French. Stow announced her appointment on 4 August 2025.
Before Stow she spent six years at Signature Senior Lifestyle, a luxury care home owner, operator and developer. She joined as chief operating officer in 2018 and became chief executive in 2023. She stepped down in January 2025. Stow's profile of her says she led Signature through the Covid-19 pandemic, acquisitions, divestments and new home launches. In a March 2024 interview with Care Home Professional she described Signature's regional carer scheme, an internal pool of staff paid a premium to move between homes, as part of a plan to cut its use of agency staff.
Earlier she was managing director for Southern and East England in Bupa UK's care services business. Stow and Care Home Professional put that division at 52 homes, 2,600 residents and 5,000 staff. Before moving into care she held senior sales and operational roles in the travel industry at MyTravel, Thomas Cook and TUI, according to her LinkedIn profile.
At Stow, the group bought Magnolia Park Care Home in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, and was named among carehome.co.uk's top 20 mid-size care home groups for 2025. In March 2026 she won the Excellence in Women Empowerment award at the Leading Women in Care Awards. Care Home Professional announced her as a speaker at the Leaders in Care Conference on 1 July 2026.
