BIOGRAPHY
Liakat Hasham is the founder and chief executive officer of CHD Living, a family-owned and operated group of care homes, rehabilitation centres and home care services in Surrey, Hampshire and South London. The group's head office is in Godalming. Shaleeza Hasham, the founders' daughter, is a director of the company.
Liakat and Nazira Hasham started the business in 1984. The family bought Brownscombe House near Haslemere in Surrey from the British arm of the typewriter maker Olivetti and turned it into a 19-bed nursing home. The family had arrived in the UK from Uganda in 1972. LinkedIn lists schooling at the Aga Khan High School in Kampala and A levels at West Buckland School in North Devon (1970 to 1972). Brownscombe remains part of the group, which marked its 40th anniversary in 2024.
CHD Living described itself in 2023 as comprising 13 residential and nursing homes, rehabilitation centres and home care services. Companies House lists Hasham as a director of CHD Living Ltd from 13 February 2018. In November 2024 the group announced planning permission for Mindenhurst Care Centre at Deepcut in Surrey, developed with the design firm Pollard Thomas Edwards. The plans include a gym, hydrotherapy pool, cinema, salon and bistro. Hasham called it a proud milestone for the group.
In 2023 Liakat and Nazira Hasham were shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement award at the Social Care Leadership Awards.
