Christina Handasyde DickOLY MBE

She came to care from elite sport. Competing as Christina Bassadone, she sailed the women's 470 class for Great Britain at the Athens 2004 Olympics (seventh) and the Beijing 2008 Olympics (sixth), won the 420 Ladies World Championship in 2000, and took silver (2005) and bronze (2007) at the 470 World Championships. She studied Management Sciences at the University of Southampton. After her sailing career ended in 2010, she set up Task Angels, a domestic help agency run from a houseboat in Chichester Marina. Family friends then asked for help with elderly parents, and she founded Guardian Angel Carers in 2012 to offer companionship, visiting, overnight and live-in care in West Sussex and Hampshire.

LinkedIn lists her as founder and CEO of the franchising company, Guardian Angel Carers Franchises, from November 2018. She was awarded an MBE in the 2022 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to home care and charity, particularly during Covid-19, and received it from King Charles III at Windsor Castle on 29 November 2022. In 2026 she was named CEO of the Year in the Women in Business Awards category of Business Awards UK, and was a finalist for Businessperson of the Year at the Central South Business Awards.
