Panakeia's AI reads standard haematoxylin and eosin-stained tissue slides, the routine images pathology labs already produce, to infer molecular markers such as microsatellite instability and mismatch repair status directly from the image, rather than requiring separate genomic sequencing that can take weeks to return results.
Its PANProfiler Colorectal product is UKCA marked, and a January 2026 clinical validation study led by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust reported it could deliver rapid molecular profiling for colorectal cancer patients directly from existing pathology workflows. The company has also been selected into the MHRA's AI Airlock programme, a regulatory sandbox for higher-risk AI medical devices.
The Bridgehead view
Panakeia's pitch, turning a slide pathology labs already have into a molecular test they'd otherwise wait weeks for, is the clearest example in this cohort of AI diagnostics competing on turnaround time rather than accuracy claims alone, a more concrete story for procurement conversations than most.
