AI cancer pathology and genomics platform
Belfast-founded, Queen's University spinout building an AI platform that reads cancer biopsy slides and multi-omic data to support faster, more consistent pathology diagnosis.
The read
Sonrai Analytics builds an AI platform that analyses cancer biopsy tissue images alongside multi-omic and clinical data, aiming to give pathologists a faster, more consistent second read on cases such as colorectal and lung cancer. It won an NHS AI in Health and Care Award, part of a national funding programme, to trial its cancer-screening AI across the health service, in partnership with the Precision Medicine Centre at Queen's University Belfast.
It has since broadened into partnerships with Roche, Cancer Research UK and drug-discovery partners including Candel Therapeutics, positioning its underlying data platform as infrastructure for pharma target identification as much as a frontline diagnostic tool.
The Bridgehead view
As one of the few Northern Ireland-headquartered names in this index, Sonrai's NHS AI Award win is a useful reminder that UK medtech isn't only an Oxford-Cambridge-London story, and that regional life-sciences clusters can win national-scale NHS procurement on technical merit.
