Ultromics' EchoGo platform applies AI to standard echocardiogram videos to flag heart conditions that are easy to miss on manual reading, including heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and cardiac amyloidosis, using nothing more than a routine ultrasound clip. EchoGo Amyloidosis, developed with Janssen and support from Pfizer, was the first device to reach market authorisation through the FDA's Total Product Lifecycle Advisory Program.
Its $55m Series C in July 2025 brought in US health-system investors UChicago Medicine's venture arm and UPMC Enterprises alongside existing backers Oxford Science Enterprises and GV, reflecting a company now selling as much into US hospital cardiology departments as into the NHS.
The Bridgehead view
Ultromics' FDA Breakthrough Device route into cardiac amyloidosis, a condition notoriously under-diagnosed on conventional echo reads, is a sharper regulatory story than most diagnostics-AI pitches: a named clinical gap, a named pharma partner with a drug to sell into it, and a clearance pathway built for exactly that kind of urgency.
